For a Sweden student visa (residence permit for studies), applicants must provide proof of sufficient financial resources to cover their living expenses during the study period. The Swedish Migration Agency requires students to demonstrate access to at least SEK 9,450 per month (approximately €820) for the duration of their studies. For a full academic year of ten months, this amounts to around SEK 94,500 (about €8,200). Proof of funds is usually provided through recent bank statements, generally issued within the last one to three months, showing that the funds are available in a savings or current account. If a sponsor is providing financial support, additional documents are required, including the sponsor’s bank statement, a sponsorship letter, proof of relationship, and valid identification. The bank statement must be in English or Swedish, clearly display the account holder’s name, and confirm that the funds are readily accessible to cover tuition fees, accommodation, and living expenses for the entire period of study in Sweden.
